We have not fully decided on a restaurant name yet but so far Taste of Asia Cafe is our top option. Our restaurant is to be located inside CSU Fullerton and will have a special feature that we are hoping to attract all students and staff.
It will feature a free downloadable smart phone application that allows customers (students and staff) to PRE order their chosen dishes. The main goal of the cafe is to provide a quick and smooth process to pick up ordered meals. The application will feature options such as: complete Cafe menu, order now, estimated pick up time, and pay with credit card. Students will then arrive at Taste of Asia Cafe during their chosen pick up time and go to a separate counter to pick up their meal(s).
This application will provide more convenience for customers who have limited time between classes to satisfy their cravings. Taste of Asia Cafe will feature the most popular dishes from countries within Asia such as: Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, India, Korean, and Thailand to provide more options and choices.
This is such a great idea for CSUF students and staff! I think the name "Taste of Asia" is already good enough (without the "Cafe") in it. I like the variety, convenience, and creativity that your group offers! Is this going to be more like a fast-food restaurant?
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, I think the word "Cafe" moves what your business is trying to do in an opposite direction. "Cafe" to me seems like it is a cheap all you can eat place, like a CiCis Pizza or a Sizzler.
Deleteyum yum I love Asian food. Make sure you differentiate your menu and service from say Panda Express since it's pricey for what we got. Oh make sure you have Pho. Btw, an idea is that make it like yogurt, you weight your food and pay for just that amount, everyone doesnt eat the same, they shouldn't pay the same.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really innovative idea! It definitely meshes well with the busy college life. Since students and professors are constantly on the go, the app idea is pretty smart. Pricing should be a big consideration for us poor college students.
ReplyDeleteThank you. The main goal of the restaurant is to have accessibility for all those busy student to order their food online.
DeleteIt is a good idea to open a restaurant inside the campus. It will help students get a meal easier when most of the students don't have enough time to drive and eat outside the campus. And I'm Asian so I'll go for Asian food.
ReplyDeleteMy original comment got deleted as I tried to post it... wonderful..
ReplyDeleteJust curious, would this place be set up in the same way that Panda Express is? All the food prepared and then customers simply show up and pick up whatever food they ordered via the phone application?
If not, then maybe consider that food could get cold and this could cause customer complaints. Just a thought.
Either way, I like the idea. It sounds pretty decent.
Hi, our application will show the estimated pick up time so you will know when your food is ready. We also might keep the food ready to be pick up in a separate place that can keep them warm.
DeleteThis is a good idea to open an Asian restaurant on CSU Fullerton because the campus doesn't have so many choices to eat. That means your competitor is Panda Express, but if your food is tasted like Asian style Asian food, you don't need to worry about Panda Express because Panda Express is American style Asian food.
ReplyDeleteWe want to have the original homemade state from Asian Cuisine.
DeleteIt's a good idea for CSUF students and staffs. People in campus will get one more choice for their meals. I wonder, since the campus already has one Asian food (Panda Express), what's the differences between Panda Express and Taste of Asia Cafe. What is the unique products you will offer to customers? How can you keep the food fresh before the customers pick up their meals?
ReplyDeleteoverall, it's a good idea which can save many time for customers!
The use of the phone app is an interesting idea. Having an app like this would make ordering food so much more easier if it works well, eliminating lines and rushing to class. However it may have some faults I hope you guys may address before it would actually be implemented.
ReplyDeleteThe main fault I can see that may occur when the cafe is open is people ordering through the app, but end up not coming at all. That just leaves prepared food that goes to waste and it may not be the only one. Some students have have ordered it but then on the way to the cafe saw something else.
Could the app include a payment option so that students cannot just bail from placing the order? It may cause resistance from costumers but it seems like a less costly alternative.
I totally agree with you. It would definitely be better to have a mandatory payment option or some other way to ensure that students or faculty pick up the food. Maybe an automated reminder could be sent when the food is ready to be picked up.
DeleteHi Robin, Sarah,
DeleteThank you for your input! However, yes we do have a pay option for the orders to be paid through the app before pick up. I mentioned in the original post that customers will pay through credit card. WE were thinking of customers who wanted to pay with Cash can pay during pick-up, but your point does raise this question for us of whether we should allow the pay cash option. Thanks guys!
since i am a CSUF student i would love to see them having a really nice restaurant on campus with craft beer :) maybe you guys should add that. but if you going to put cafe in the name, i think you will confuse me, just like alec said , the word cafe may give a different view of what you are actually trying to accomplish
ReplyDeleteGood idea that opening an Asian type restaurant in CSUF, because campus has really less choice of food. Your restaurant wants to service many different Asian countries' food; however, these countries have very different food type. It kinds like a big work for holding all types of food from different Asian countries. Thus, is there focus on which country? But I really glad to hear your restaurant will open, I like the fast serve service and variety choices.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea that people can pre-order their chosen dishes. As restaurant, the operational objectives for customers are provide a superior quality, convenient and efficient service.
ReplyDeleteI really like Asian food. Btw, how big is your restaurant? And how many types of Asian food will you provide?
This is such a nice idea to open up a new restaurant on CSUF campus since I am sick of the current restaurants located near the campus! Also, the fact that you guys are planning to create a free app really attracts me and makes me want to try the restaurants more and more!
ReplyDeleteI like the app idea, since people are always on their phones anyway. Please don't make the food too expensive! Poor college student here!! Haha Would be looking forward to your grand opening.
